This is in response to a letter in the readers write column last week from Isabel Culbertson. She wrote about the NRA and gun control. Her letter is an example of how some people can be so miss lead by politicians. Especially Democrats can miss lead people on gun control. They use even the Sandyhook massacre to get what they want. Take away all guns in America and what is left? You still have all the crazy people out there, every one of them. All you have done is disarm millions of honest law-byding citizens that are just protecting their family’s, their propriety, and themselves. The liberal media never tells you how many lives are saved by guns. The crazy people are the problem and we are letting them slip through the cracks and reek havoc on society. Why, because our way of evaluating them is wrong. They are deemed o.k. by medical experts and sent back out into the public. The medical experts are not to blame fully either, because they are using guidelines set up by our Gov. As for the NRA, you ought to be glad we have some one trying to keep our Gov. from changing our constitution .All they need is to change one thing and they will be after everything in it to suit them, not us. The constitution is there to protect you from the Gov. not the other way around. Lets attack the real problem, not just something you don’t like. By the way, an assault rifle like used in Conn. that you said will leave just a tuft of hair when shooting a deer is totaly wrong. That bullet is less than a quarter of an inch in dia. Much bigger rifles are used on deer.

Good points. However when the constitution was written the most deadly arms were muskets. I shudder to think that had AK-47's been prevelant at the time the same amendment would be written. Its ok to change and evolve. Have you looked at a lot of the other stuff written at that time? Like only counting African Americans as 1/3 a person. Or women voting? Its ok to count some stuff as out dated. We're a smart society; its time that we stood up a little became more vocal and stopped letting the "patriots" piss and moan about what Obama wants to take away. I'm an educated gun owner (multiple guns) but if the senseless slaughter of 20 innocent CHILDREN cant spark a healthy debate on gun control without the most ignorant of us screaming about the constitution then we have bigger problems. Get a new schtick and join the debate. However; try to do it without mentioning the constitution or the Bible. I got lunch that says you cant.
